King Song S22 (S20) Electric Unicycle Review

We’ve moved! Check out our FULL article here. Summary below.

The King Song S20 Eagle, one of the most eagerly anticipated electric unicycles (EUCs) since its predecessor, the S18, generated considerable excitement with its promises of revolutionary design. However, this ride faced mixed reviews, particularly regarding aesthetics, durability, and features.

Aesthetically Pleasing but Fragile
The S20’s standout feature is its breathtaking design, making it one of the most visually appealing EUCs. However, its durability falls short, with brittle plastic components prone to damage upon impact, including the front bumper handle, red plastic trim accents, and the plastic kickstand.

Suspension Brings Smoothness and Safety
The adjustable suspension of the King Song S20 delivers an exceptionally smooth ride, making rough terrains and obstacles more manageable. This feature enhances safety, particularly for handling unexpected obstacles at speed.

Limited Range
While the suspension is impressive, it comes at a cost of reduced range. Marathon riders may find this EUC unsuitable, but it should satisfy those traveling shorter distances of under 40 miles.

Throttling for Speed
The S20 exhibits initial acceleration throttling to protect the electrical system when pushed hard, but it offers fast, powerful, and smooth acceleration once in motion.

Sound and Display
The EUC has loud beeps for warnings, but it lacks built-in speakers for music. The ride produces some unexpected vibrating noises, likely originating from the motor or suspension. The dot matrix display is clear and simple, but its posterior positioning demands riders to look further down for speed readings.

Headlights and Kickstand
The EUC features bright adjustable headlights but with fragile, exposed plastic lights prone to damage during falls. The kickstand is stable but fragile, particularly the plastic foot.

Seated Riding
The S20 comes with a comfortable seat attached with Velcro, offering seated riding. However, tall riders may find the position requires bending the knees substantially, making it less comfortable.

Charging
The EUC includes a 5-amp charger, which is faster than many other models, but the charge ports are hidden on top, requiring users to reach blindly to access them.

Pros and Cons
The King Song S20 boasts an attractive design, comfortable suspension, a powerful motor, a bright display, adjustable headlights, and a stable kickstand. However, it suffers from a range limitation, throttled initial acceleration, potential durability issues with the display, headlights, and kickstand, and a position-dependent display.

The King Song S20 excels in aesthetics and offers a smooth ride but requires certain trade-offs, making it suitable for those who prioritize style and comfort over range and speed.
